GATE 2027 Registration Last Date Today: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), the organising institute of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, will close the regular online application window today, 27 September 2026. Candidates who have not yet submitted their application form must complete the process today itself at gate2027.iitm.ac.in to avoid paying the late fee.
Candidates who miss today’s deadline can still apply during the extended window with a late fee from 28 September to 5 October 2026. This year, registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals, and a new test paper – Robotics and Automation (RA) – has been introduced. GATE 2027 will be conducted in 30 test papers, and the scores remain valid for 3 years for admission to postgraduate/doctoral programmes and PSU recruitment.

GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates currently in the 3rd year or higher of any government-approved undergraduate programme (Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts / Humanities) or those who have already graduated are eligible.
- There is no age limit and no restriction on the number of attempts.
- Candidates may appear in up to two papers from the given combinations in a single application form.
- DigiLocker registration is mandatory for all Indian nationals – create or verify your DigiLocker account before applying.
- SC / ST candidates must upload the category certificate and PwD candidates must upload the required documents to the “GATE2027” DigiLocker folder.
How to Apply for GATE 2027 Online
- Visit the official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
- Create or verify your DigiLocker account (mandatory for Indian nationals).
- Click on the Apply Online (GOAPS Portal) link and complete registration with your email ID and mobile number.
- Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, paper choices and six examination city preferences.
- Upload your live photo, signature and applicable category / PwD certificates as per specifications.
- Pay the application fee online (net banking / debit card / credit card / UPI).
- Submit the form and take a printout of the generated application PDF for your records.
