Short Information: Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi has invited online applications for 55 Non-Teaching posts in Group B and Group C under Advertisement No. 03/2026-27. The vacancies are spread across the Administrative, Technical, Library, Engineering and Rajbhasha cadres, and include Junior Superintendent, Junior Technician (5 groups), Junior Library Assistant, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer and Junior Translation Officer. Big update for applicants: the last date to apply online has been extended from 24/09/2026 to 01/10/2026 (5:00 PM). Applications are accepted only through the SAMARTH portal, and every applicant must also send the printed form by Speed Post.

Eligibility – IIT BHU Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026

• Junior Superintendent (26118): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks, plus 3 years of relevant experience at Level 5 (or equivalent) OR 8 years at Level 3 or above in Central / State Government, autonomous bodies, PSUs or research organisations. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
• Junior Technician, Group-I (26119): Bachelor’s degree in Science (Chemistry / Physics) with minimum 55% marks. Computer proficiency is a must.
• Junior Technician, Group-II (26120): B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Ceramic / Materials Science with 55% marks, OR 3-year Diploma (after 10+2) in the same branches with 55% marks plus 1 year of relevant experience. Computer proficiency is a must.
• Junior Technician, Group-III (26121): B.E. or equivalent in Electrical / Electronics with 55% marks, OR 3-year Diploma in the same branches with 55% marks plus 1 year of relevant experience. Computer proficiency is a must.
• Junior Technician, Group-IV (26122): B.E. or equivalent in Civil / Mining, or B.Arch., with 55% marks, OR 3-year Diploma in Civil / Mining with 55% marks plus 1 year of relevant experience. Computer proficiency is a must.
• Junior Technician, Group-V (26123): B.E. or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology with 55% marks, OR 3-year Diploma in the same field with 55% marks plus 1 year of relevant experience. Computer proficiency is a must.
• Junior Library Assistant (26124): Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science with 55% marks, OR Diploma in Library & Information Science (55%) with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, OR 2-year integrated M.Lib. & Info. Sc. with 55% marks.
• Assistant Engineer (26125): Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil / Electrical Engineering with 5 years (degree holders) or 8 years (diploma holders) of post-qualification experience at Level 6 or above.
• Junior Engineer (26126): B.E. / B.Tech in Civil with at least 55% marks and 2 years of post-qualification experience, OR 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering (55%) from a recognised polytechnic with 3 years of post-qualification experience.
• Junior Translation Officer (26127): Bachelor’s degree in Hindi with 3 years of translation experience (English to Hindi and Hindi to English, technical and non-technical) in Central / State Government, autonomous bodies, PSUs or research organisations.

Selection Process

• Applications are screened on the basis of the details filled in the online form; the institute may apply stricter shortlisting criteria than the advertised minimum.
• Depending on the post, the selection stages may include a Screening Test, Written Test, Presentation, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The exact stages and schedule for each post will be emailed to shortlisted candidates, and the shortlist will be published on the institute website.

Send the printout, along with self-attested copies of all supporting documents and the experience certificate in Annexure-A format, by Speed Post to The Registrar, IIT (BHU), Varanasi – 221005, within 7 days of the online closing date. Superscribe the sealed envelope with your application number, advertisement number, and the name and code of the post.
7. Candidates already working in Government / semi-Government / autonomous bodies must upload the NOC and vigilance clearance while applying (or produce them at the interview) and get the application forwarded through the proper channel.
