Short Information: Railway Recruitment Cell, Northern Railway (RRC-NR) has released Notification No. RRC/NR/03/2026/Act Apprentice dated 06/11/2026 for the engagement of 4651 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 in various divisions, units and workshops of Northern Railway. Online applications will start on 11/11/2026 and close on 11/12/2026. Candidates who have passed Class 10th with minimum 50% marks and hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade can apply. Selection will be on merit basis, with no written examination. The merit list is expected in February 2027.

Trade-wise and Division / Workshop-wise training slots are given in Annexure-A of the official notification. Candidates must apply only for the cluster and unit where training slots for their ITI trade are notified.
RRC NR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility
- SSC / Matriculation / 10th class examination or its equivalent under the 10+2 system, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, from a recognized Board.
- ITI certificate in the relevant trade (NCVT / SCVT).
- One candidate can submit only one application.
- No change is allowed in the application after final submission.
RRC NR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
- Screening and Scrutiny: Applications will be screened first. There will be no written test and no viva.
- Merit List: Selection is made on merit, prepared on the average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (10th) and ITI examination, with equal weightage to both.
- Final Merit: The final merit list will be prepared cluster-wise, trade-wise and community-wise.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
- Training: Selected candidates will be engaged as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961. Stipend will be paid as per extant rules. Training does not confer any right to absorption in Railway after completion.
Negative Marking: There is no written examination in this recruitment, so negative marking does not apply.
